Traditional long term care services in skilled nursing facilities include round-the-clock nursing care by registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and certified nursing assistants, physical, occupational and speech therapies, terminal and palliative care, tube feedings, simple respiratory care, wound care, social work assistance, and programmed activities. Residents are individuals who are unable to care for themselves at home or with community assistance. The nursing facility becomes their “home away from home.” |
